Inspired Health Naturopathic Clinic   Victoria, BC

Questions for Inspired Health

Are you a licensed physician?
What is the difference between you and my GP?

Yes! In BC naturopathic doctors are licensed physicians and are governed by the College of Naturopathic Physicians of BC (www.cnpbc.bc.ca for more info). Dr. Trevorrow's license number is #458 and you can look her up on the website.

To be licensed as a naturopathic doctor (ND) in BC, a candidate must spend four years in an accredited post-graduate naturopathic medical program, which includes over 1000 supervised clinical hours in addition to 2 years of basic medical sciences and courses in advanced naturopathic therapeutics such as clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, IV therapy, homeopathy, and physical medicine. In North America, ND's also have to write certifying Board exams in both Basic and Clinical Sciences.

The central focus of naturopathic training is preventative medicine. This is what sets us apart from most conventional physicians, where the focus is on disease identification and treatment. With training in both conventional pharmacology and pharmacognosy (the study of plants as medicines), we can also help patients avoid the thorny issue of whether botanical medicine or supplements will interfere with their medications.

For more information on who we are and what we do, see this article on the BC Naturoapthic Assocation website.

Are your visit fees covered by MSP?

Currently, visits with a naturopathic physician are not covered by the provincial Medical Services Plan (MSP), except for patients on premium assistance, who receive partial coverage. On the other hand, most extended health plans (such as Blue Cross) do fully cover naturopathic office visits up to a yearly limit.

Do you treat adults as well as kids?

Yes, absolutely. Dr. Trevorrow has a number of adult patients with a variety of health conditions including environmental illnesses, Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, asthma, allergies, depression, gynaecological issues and so on. She also treats adults with autism and ADHD.
